What are cells?
Cells are the structural building block of an organism, they microscopic, therefore, they can only be seen with a microscope. Most cells contain a nucleus, cytoplasm and a cell membrane. There are 200 different types of cells but this site will go in-depth with four of these cells.

Animal
- Cell membrane - controls what substances enter and exit the cell.
- Nuclear membrane - a substance that encloses the nucleus.
- Nucleus - controls the development of the cell and holds the DNA information.
- Cytoplasm - a substance that keeps all the organelles (different parts to a cell) in place.
- Ribosomes - an organelle which creates protein for the body. (Protein - maintains, creates and replenishes the tissue in your body).
Plant

- Ribosomes - an organelle which creates protein for the body. (Protein - maintains, creates and replenishes the tissue in your body).
- Mitochondria - turns food and nutrients into energy.
- Chloroplast - a green plant cell which contains chlorophyll inside, for the process photosynthesis. (Photosynthesis - the process which plants use to turn sunlight into a source of energy).
- Vacuole - Stores water, food and waste. The waste is then broken down and excreted. For plants, waste is released in the form of carbon dioxide.
- Cell wall - surrounds the membrane and provides support for the structure and protection of the cell.
